Freedom VR 2
Freedom VR 2 is a simple Java applet that lets you embed photographic VR
in web pages without any plug-ins. Because it's written in Java it works with
all major web browsers on almost every platform; because it's based on
industry standards like JPEG, you can create content on any platform.
It's much like what Apple calls a Quicktime VR "Object Movie."
Freedom VR 2 adds many features to Freedom VR 1, but using the new .jar
file format, it loads just as fast as the original.
- Better cross-platform reliability and performance
- Hyperlinks can now be embedded in VR scenes
- 2-d navigation, an object can be moved up and down as well as left and right.
- Keyboard navigation: you can now spin an object from the keyboard.
Freedom VR 3
Freedom VR 3, currently in alpha test, is Freedom VR rewritten in Javascript. FVR3 (should) work with
Netscape 4 as well as IE 4 and 5. Many features are missing, but FVR 3 already greatly outperforms FVR2.
