A clover. Trifolate compound leaves are alternate, ovate and dully pointed with third leaflet on stalk, 0.75 cm long. Alternate dark purple flowes in spikes arising from leaf axils. Fruits are green-brown pods, 2 per cluster, 9 cm long, twists open to reveal 2 spiral halves, brown seeds about 0.25 cm long.
