Crumpling paper

We made our recordings using a PZM microphone and a Turtle Beach Tahiti sound card attached to an ordinary PC. Most of our recordings were made at a sample rate of 11 kHz, although we did make some reference recordings at CD-quality 44.1 kHz.

Above we can see a plot of sound amplitude versus time of the cylinderical crumpling audible above. One can see that the sound appears to come in audible individual pulses, and if we zoom in to where the arrow points, we see...

a single pulse that decays with an exponential envelope.
